Ford is a lawyer with an extensive background in finance and accounting. He is responsible for all Pappas Ventures’ financial and administrative activities, including financial reporting and investor relations. Before joining Pappas in 1997, he was a corporate and securities attorney for Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice and was a member of that firm's Emerging Businesses practice group. He is currently a board observer at TargeGen. He previously served as a director of Healthgate Data Corp., acquirer of EBM Solutions, and he participated as a board observer at Novalon Pharmaceutical for two and a half years until it was acquired in 2000, at a substantial premium, by a publicly held Swedish company. He served as chairman of Biotech 2002, an annual conference that brings together nearly 1000 members of North Carolina’s biotech community. Earlier in his career, Ford was a writer and associate editor for Fortune Magazine, serving as bureau chief in both Chicago and Hong Kong. He received his BA degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , passing the CPA Examination prior to his graduation. He received his law degree from the University of Chicago, where he was a member of the University of Chicago Law Review .
